Southwest Airlines chairman and CEO Gary C. Kelly spoke this morning in Irving at the annual transportation summit, and said acquiring the bankrupt carrier Frontier Airlines would be a big win for the company.
"Today is a big day," said Kelly. Discussions are underway today in advance of tomorrow's bankruptcy auction. "We are doing everything we can to win this. It would allow us to grow," he said. "We think we have the best offer for the community and for the employees. I think Frontier employees probably make half what our employees make."
