Southwest is Almost Ready for Liftoff at Logan

The smell of sawdust and new carpet was in the air at the two new Southwest Airlines gates at Logan Airport this week as the airline prepared to begin service to Chicago Midway and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall airports on Sunday.

Since June, the airline has been transforming the former Northwest Airlines area in Terminal E into a more open seating arrangement with easy chairs, yellow and blue poles, and a laptop station with bar stools.
