If on a round trip reservation the outbound flight is on December 28, 2017 and the return flight is on January 5, 2018, do all of the points apply in 2018 or are they separated between 2017 and 2018? I need the December outbound points in order to achieve A-List Preferred but am afraid they will not count until 2018. Thanks

You will not receive the points for the paid flight until your travel is completed. The points earned for that flight will post in 2018.

Would you be able to cancel the round trip and book as two separate one way trips without having a drastic price increase? That would get the outbound trip and the 2017 miles posted in 2017.

Thank you. I did try that by calling customer service. I could do it but I would have to pay the increased fare. She told me I would get credit in 2017 for the outbound flight but that didn't seem right to me, which is why I brought the question to this board. I might just have to bite the bullet and pay an incresed fare.
