If you read the Southwest Pet Policy page it says nothing about the pet being able to stand up and turn around in the pet carrier. We called Southwest Airlines and the young lady told us that if the pets tail and head could fit in the carrier we would be good to go. We got to the Orlando Airport at 5 am and stood in a line over 400 people long to find out that our dog was too tall for the pet carrier. It ruined a family reunion planned six months earlier. We lost over $600 in deposits and they wanted to give us a voucher for $150. This airline is very poorly run and even their employees do t know what the pet policy is. Good luck if you’re planning on taking you pet with you.

It is clearly stated in the policy
"The cat or dog must be completely inside the pet carrier and be able to stand up and move around the carrier with ease."
