Why did Southwest cancel the direct flights between Atlanta and Detroit?
When will they be restored?
I fly this leg frequently and now have to fly Delta (unfortunately!)

You won't get a formal response to your question. The typical reasons would be:
1)Too few passengers (low load factor)
2) Fares not high enough to allow the airline to make the rate of return needed
3) Some combination of 1 and 2 above.
If you want the route back, you could contact customer relations and ask the it be added back. The phone nmber is 855-234-4654 - weekdays only.

Non-stops and directs have been cut back for many cities throughout the current schedule in favor of connecting service, most likely as a result of the MAX groundings. The 3 daily ATL-DTW non-stops may return once the MAX are flying again and Southwest returns to more normal operations, but when that will actually happen is anyone's guess.
