I am traveling to Florida for a job this weekend. Need to travel (in a checked bag) with 20" paper/cardboard style confetti poppers. They are used with compressed air in a cardboard tube. Am I allowed to pack these in a checked bag or do I need to ship them down separately?

The typical party poppers where you pull a string and confetti shoots out are not allowed in either carry-on or checked baggage. If you have something different please provide more details or a link to a product description.
Here's the TSA site that lists what is and isn't allowed: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/party-poppers

Just to add, the TSA also offers an app where you can check for more info (https://www.tsa.gov/mobile). Alternatively, you can tweet them @AskTSA.
