I think it all just goes away if you don’t rub the topic in. Hopefully you can see it’s a touchy subject by the fact names were called and a thread was shut down maybe talk about the great flight you had instead or the nice person you met on your flight instead of the old in your face approach. Have I preboarded before yes do I announce it to the world no because it shouldn’t matter have I used the COS policy to have an open middle seat on a sold out flight being that’ that I’m borderline in the seat next to me sure but you don’t see me or others rubbing it in. Maybe just try to help others like others of us do here instead of trying to irritate people. If the outbound flight still has seats you can cancel the companion completely then cancel your return only and rebook as a one way with new date/city then rebook your companion on both one way flights

I think that’s the effect from making funds never expire and points never expire (getting rid of the 24 months rules) gotta make up for it somehow.

They offered me the 3:55pm flight after this flight was canceled but I was able to find a non stop to AUS so the cancellation worked in my favor instead of a layover and only arrived 2 hours late yes it was last minute but things happen (crews time out, planes break)
Personally if I have an event I need to attend I arrive a day early because of situation like yesterday no sense in rushing because even if the flight was delayed 3 hours you would probably miss the graduation by the time you get off the plane and to your actual event

Hopefully they get it upgraded soon as an ALP member it annoys me too but I did see that they are installing better Wi-Fi on planes but of course that takes time (just like the power outlets)
I would send an email to southwest by clicking the contact us link at the bottom of this page to let them know about your experience with the Wi-Fi so if more and more people complain maybe they will speed up that process

If you end up booking a hotel I would send an email with a receipt and hopefully they can accommodate you by check or another voucher
after travel is complete I would still contact just to see if any further compensation could be issued.

If you didn’t book though SW you would not get points on SW
the only exception is if you booked though the hotel chain directly and they let you choose to earn airlines miles instead of hotel loyalty points (no double dipping) for this you would need to contact the hotel company to see if they allow this

southwest has open seating on a full flight every seat will be filled the seat next to you could be filled right after you sit down or the last person to board they can choose any open seat.

If the flight is completely sold out I see availability within 24 hours because people will standby on earlier flights and some will miss connections or have delays that would cause a seat to open up on the flight you want.

This is probably because of spring break fares for potentially busy seasons will be higher and as the date gets closer they might release some cheaper seats if the flight isn’t filling up.
if you can afford it I would book now and If the price goes down later you can get a flight credit to use on another flight. If you book the anytime or business select fare now you can get a refund and book the cheaper fare.

for domestic travel if you are under 18 you won’t need an ID to go though security regardless if the minor is traveling alone or with an adult over 18 years old. All they would say is they are under 18 the TSA agent might just ask how old they are and should be on there way

Was your flight to RSW? If so you can change your airport free of charge for flights though November 5th and you can change the date up to 30 days
example if you were booked AUS-RSW you could change to AUS-MCO, TPA, SRQ, MIA, or FLL no difference in fare.
Unfortunately if you were booked to fly in to a different airport those waivers have expired.

If you are able to get in to the account don’t transfer the points that’s a waste of money just use the points for whatever flights you need until the points are gone then you could report it and have them close the account or don’t tell them and the account would just stay open without activity.
